Be2 NZ Test: How quickly can you find love?

What is be2 all about?

The small psychological test and the profile question selection makes it clear: singles on be2 NZ are mostly looking for a solid, long-term relationship. But are there enough members in New Zealand on the be2 platform?

At first glance, the numbers don’t look too shabby. Nonetheless, we’re looking here at total global numbers, which doesn’t necessarily tell us anything about the situation in New Zealand. So what is the situation in New Zealand?

All we can say is, the proof of the cake is in the eating. Why not download the app and give it a go for yourself? But what awaits you once you get on the app?

Our experience with be2 shows that the platform is popular, relevant and totally worth a look if you are based in New Zealand.

There’s a broad range of members on the platform. In contrast to sites like Academic Singles or EliteSingles, be2 offers a broader palate. You’ll find here people from all professions – from craftspeople to teachers, from bank clerks to managers, and even qualified psychologists. With Be2, inclusivity is the aim of the game.

The small questionnaire at the beginning of the registration process is easy to complete. On the basis of your answers, the platform suggests the most suitable members to you. The logic here is: the higher the match between two profiles, the greater the chance that the two members will fit to each other.

Our judgement:

The be2 questionnaire is pretty short as far as dating sites go (the plus side being that it doesn’t take long to complete) and the range of potential answers are also somewhat limited.

For example…

When one has to decide between seriousness and humour. Further, the “icebreaker” question as far as we are concerned offers too limited a range of answers.

Once the test is out of the way, it’s time to download some photos.

And on the topic of photos …

The photos are checked and activated by be2 staff. This can take a couple of hours. When we made our profile however, we only had to wait about half an hour.

The advantage of this process: We hardly found a single fake on the platform!

Strengths of be2

The be2 dating site offers more opportunities than most other platforms to go into detail about things like hobbies. We suggest that you fill everything in here so as to give as much detail about yourself as possible.

Another positive aspect is that you are not restricted simply to multiple choice questions, but also have the chance to write freehand. Our top tip is to stray away from the generic answers that people usually go for and be original.

Excellent!

You receive a high number of profile suggestions with the free version. This can be anywhere between 15 and 50, depending on your search criteria. So you don’t have to wait days for the suggestions, as is the case on some other dating platforms.

Individual photo action – you can operate discretely

With Be2 you have the opportunity to display your photos to individual users at your discretion. This function helps all those who, for professional reasons, need to ensure that they are not on display for everyone to see.

The search function

The be2 search function was really quite well hidden and it was tough to find. Only when you click on the top-right corner above your profile will the navigation bar and search function be displayed.

You can search using gender, country, county, yearly income, drinking and smoking habits, children, figure and religion.

Unfortunately, our test showed that the search criteria you choose has very little influence on the results shown. We were shown members that were far from the criteria we opted for – in terms of location and age, and all other options for that matter.

With the “who is online” option, you can search directly for active users in your area. Results can be ordered as desired.

This function is only available for those with premium memberships. It’s a shame, be2 could be a little more generous here, in our opinion.

Be2 – The App

You can use be2 on app as well as the website. The app can be downloaded free of charge via Google Play-Store or the Apple App-Store. When it comes to creating your profile however, we recommend that you use the website, as the larger screen allows you to answer the personality test and profile questions in a lot more comfort.

Advantages: chatting with members on be2

When making contact with members, you have 5 possibilities to choose from.  Flirt request, send a greeting, like the profile, suggest a call and of course, you can send them a direct message. You don’t find this range of choice often.

Free versus premium

If you don’t know very much about a particular platform, you’ll want to try it out first before you make any financial commitments. So which functions are free with be2 and which require the premium membership?

After registering, the following options are available free of charge:

• Upload photos
• Fill in profile
• View members
• Read messages sent to you

With the basic membership however, profile photos are blurred. If you want to reply to messages sent your way as well as see photos clearly, you’ll need that upgrade.

Also, the range of online members is restricted. You can neither filter your results nor click on member profiles.

The more you write, the more attention you’ll receive

Our results indicate quite clearly that other be2 users want to see properly filled-in profiles. The detail-lacking profile that we created received hardly any messages. But as soon as we made the effort and filled in the profile correctly, this changed. Therefore, the bottom-line is:

Those that write personal and individual texts on their profile will find a partner sooner and will have more fun in the process.

Online dating platforms that offer a serious service for members looking for love, in comparison to flirt- platforms like Tinder or Bumble, are generally more expensive.

Serious online dating services need to charge fees for marketing to ensure a steady stream of new members. In addition to this, the fee keeps those who are not serious about dating and simply want to fill some time far away from the platform.

This is certainly be2’s approach to their service. But just to be clear: in comparison to many of their market competitors, be2 is around 10-20% cheaper.

Price differences between men and women on be2

We discovered that men and women are offered the same membership price, bucking the trend of women receiving membership for free.

There is also no monthly payment option with be2, rather, members must pay a single upfront price.

• 6 month premium membership– 69.95 NZD / per month (single payment of 419.70 NZD)

Be2 termination process

If you want to terminate your premium membership, click on the web portal on your profile. Navigate to the second menu list on “preferences” and you’ll see here all the options you need.

The usual notice period is two weeks before the end of the contract period. This can, of course, change at any time. If in doubt, take a look at the contract you originally signed or contact the be2 team for further information.
